Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about ACTION’s services, referrals, insurance, locations, and programs. For additional help, contact our office at sydney@actionky.org.

ACTION primarily serves children, adolescents, and families. Eligibility varies by service, age, location, clinical need, insurance coverage, and current program availability. Some services are also available to caregivers and young adults.

Yes! ACTION accepts Kentucky Medicaid through participating managed-care organizations and accepts most commercial insurance plans for therapy, including TriCare, Aetna, Ambetter, United HealthCare, and Personify. Coverage varies by service and plan. Our team will verify eligibility and benefits before services begin whenever possible.

Many behavioral-health services may be covered by Medicaid or another participating insurance plan. Copayments, deductibles, or other costs may apply depending on the individual’s coverage. Some community programs, events, and classes may have a separate fee.

Targeted Case Management helps eligible individuals and families identify needs, develop goals, coordinate services, and connect with medical, behavioral-health, educational, and community resources. A case manager works alongside the family and other providers to support stability and progress.

After a referral is submitted, our team reviews the information provided and contacts the family to discuss needs, eligibility, availability, and possible service options. A clinical assessment may also be required before a final recommendation is made.

ACTION provides services at multiple locations in Bowling Green and Franklin. Depending on the service, support may also be available in schools, homes, community settings, or through telehealth.

Yes. Families may list a preferred provider on the referral form. We will consider the request, but placement depends on the provider’s availability, clinical fit, location, insurance participation, and the individual’s needs.

Possibly. Services must be coordinated carefully to avoid duplication and insurance conflicts. Our team will review the current services, clinical needs, payer requirements, and requested ACTION service before determining whether both can be provided.

Most families can expect an initial appointment within one week of contacting ACTION. Availability may vary by service, location, insurance requirements, and provider fit. Certain specialized services, including some assessments, may have a waitlist.

Not always. ACTION offers clinical services, therapeutic programs, family support, community resources, and enrichment opportunities. Eligibility, documentation, insurance requirements, and fees differ by service.

ACTION is not an emergency or crisis-response service. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department when there is immediate danger. For mental-health or suicide-related crisis support, call or text 988.
